A 4 product budget skincare routine for normal skin

Sunday, June 07, 2015

I'm always pretty bad for following a routine and despite my poor mother trying to educate me on good skincare, I've also always been pretty bad about looking after my skin well. Despite this I've managed to find some holy grail products now which I'm getting used to using on a daily basis and hopefully my skin will thank me when I'm fifty! I've never been one to spend a lot of money on products and I'm fairly certain that in most cases it is possible to find cheaper equivalents of high end products. All of the products you see above are relatively cheap and more than do the job for me since my skin is fairly 'normal'.
So in the morning I will wash my face with warm water just to liven the skin up a little and clear away any dirt that has somehow managed to cling to my face overnight. Then I cleanse with the Lush 'Breath of Fresh Air' toner water which honestly makes me skin feels so fresh and clean and has a lovely subtle beachy scent. It's also really cooling on the skin so perfect for holidays in the sun! I just wipe it over my face on a cotton pad but it can also be sprayed directly onto the face. However I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has particularly dry skin as it is quite drying. You can pick this beachy bottle up online or in store for £7.95. I suppose this is fairly pricey for the small bottle but it has lasted me absolutely ages so definitely is worth it!

After I've used the toner water I move onto moisturiser and this product is my best beauty secret! I first picked up the Diadermine Soin de Jour Hydratant Protecteur in a supermarket when I was on holiday in France a few years ago because I forgot my own moisturiser. Now I honestly would never look back! It is so moisturising and has the most lovely scent and sits so well under makeup. My parents normally head over to France every February so they stock up for me then (it's only about 5 euros in supermarkets there!!) but if I run out you can buy it for slightly more on the French Amazon. It's seriously worth a try though if you're ever in France as it's my little beauty buddy.

Okay okay so I admit it, this one isn't particularly budget friendly but if you get it for a gift it kinda still counts right?! If I'm feeling particularly tired I will then go in with Benefit's 'It's Potent' eyecream which I believe is about £5 for this scooty wee tub. I got this little guy in a gift set from my sister one year and it's lasted forever and is very hydrating and cooling on the gentle eye area. It is the first ever eye cream I have ever used so if you have any recommendations for other ones to try when this one is done I'd love to spread my eyecream wings as this eyecream is a bit pricier than my usual buys especially as the full size one is £25! Hopefully with you guys help I can find a more pocket money friendly version!

At the end of the day I now always take my makeup of and/or cleanse with the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water on a cotton wool pad. I always used to be a die hard make-up wipe girl since I am super lazy with skincare (sacrilege!) but since this was recommended to me I have used it ever since. It's so amazing for taking makeup off and just feels lovely on the skin and doesn't leave it dry. It's also very budget friendly at only £4.19 for the most huge bottle that lasts forever and you can sleep well knowing it's much better for your skin!

All in all my skincare routine comes in at under £20 for all 4 products so you can't really go wrong with that sorta price tag, especially when two of the products last forever! Hope some of you found this helpful to find out some more purse friendly skincare saviours if you can't afford to buy high-end!

Do you have any budget skincare recommendations? Would love to add to my little collection!
