Makeup for Freckles and Pale Skin

Saturday, October 11, 2014

Since I was young I have always struggled to find make-up which is well suited to pale skin tones and freckles. Heck, when I was in my teenage years I used to often attempt to cover them up thinking that they were ugly or made my face look dirty. It is only now that I have a few more years on that naive little girl that I am now proud of them and I'm quite happy to show them off. Not that I really have much option considering I am covered in them and as soon as the sun hits me at all it will easily make it impossible to play join the dots!

However, now that I am trying to show these little quirks to my skin off I often struggle to find make up that suits me. Quite often when I head out to buy foundations/concealers there is never one which is pale enough for me as they are always too orange! I was disappointed when Nicola from Girls Aloud's make up range was discontinued as I really believe that it was a niche in the market. So to help you pale-skinned/freckly/red haired gals, I'm going to share with you a few products which help show off my skin rather than hide it beneath a layer of make up! P.s. they are also great budget products!

  1. Bourjois Radiance Reveal Healthy Mix Foundation in No. 51 'Light Vanilla' - This foundation has just the right amount of coverage but is still radiant and doesn't cover up freckles. Gives a lovely dewy complexion but lasts a long time.
  2. Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in No.1 'Fair' - You will no doubt have heard of this cult beauty blogger favourite! I have to say I wasn't a huge fan of this at first but it has definitely grown on me and is a great colour for my skin tone.
  3. Seventeen Instant Glow Bronzing Powder in 'Light Bronze' - I don't really like shimmery bronzers as I like to apply highlighter seperately so this is a really good matte bronzer which isn't too orangey.
  4. Bourjois Blush in No.74 'Rose Ambre' - This blusher is great for pale toned girls with freckles as it warms up your skin tone and doesn't clash with the colour of your freckles. It is a lovely peachy toned blush.
  5. Natural Collection Eyeshadow in 'Mocha/Latte' - I use this little eyeshadow palette for both my eyes (in the crease) and my eyebrows with the angled brush. It was very cheap but has lasted ages.
  6. NYC High Definition Separating Mascara in Black - I picked up this mascara on a whim one time but it has great longevity and really separates your lashes.
  7. Urban Decay Matte Eyeshadow in 'Illegal' - I actually *acquired* this from my flat mate (sorry Hannah!) and its a lovely colour between a brown and a lilac. I think this is a great base for a smoky eye or just on its own to bring out blue eyes.
  8. Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipstick in No. 30 - This was a bit of an adventurous lipstick for me as I always tend to stick to nudes or my bright reds however I think its a great shade for autumn but isn't too out there as its still a red toned purple! Probably not an everyday lipstick however!

  1. Real Techniques Stippling Brush
  2. Ecotools Blush Brush
  3. Ecotools Angled Brush
  4. E.L.F. Cosmetics Eyeshadow Brush

What do you think? Do you have any tips/products for fair skinned girls?
